"Virtual" word wrap length? reddit / emacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- campbellm · 2022-02-09 14:52 Is there a setting that I can use to create a virtual line length in a fundamental-mode (or really, any mode) buffer? I do some writing, and while my emacs WINDOW is full screen (I use a tiling window manager) I want the text to wrap at a given column, but only visually; I don't want actual linefeeds there. Not even sure what to search for. I want something like 'visual-line- mode' that respects the fill-column value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- a-c-d-w · 2022-02-09 15:49 [visual-fill-column](https://codeberg.org/joostkremers/visual-fill- column) is probably what you're looking for. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrolivertaylor · 2022-02-09 16:04 Another option is the Olivetti package. https://github.com/rnkn/olivetti ---------------------------------------------------------------------- campbellm · 2022-02-09 17:42 This looks like it, yes. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- campbellm · 2022-02-09 17:42 I will look at that as well, thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- shirleygreenalt · 2022-02-09 20:30 mx toggle-truncate-lines
