I'm looking for a specific bbs setup guide that I accessed 2 years ago
but now I just can't find it. It was a personal site with a light grey
background and black text. I know that this is a longshot but if you
know what I am talking about please let me know. Thanks.

What was the BBS type or topic?

Ya, I've seen a lot of different ones all pertaining to different BBS
software, utils, etc... a little more detail and maybe we can help

yes, sorry, it was a guide on installing synchronet and port forward
to run your own bbs. I think it was called "in the [something]'s den"
but i might be wrong

This is **probably not it** but just in case you misremember the
colors, [this guide](https://famicoman.com/HackInACan/BBS.html) seems
to cover the subjects you listed including port forwarding.
