Mystic BBS Linux running door games with Dosemu2 reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Total_Initiative5120 · 2023-06-22 20:58 I have been trying to get Mystic BBS to run doors games on Ubuntu. I have followed the steps from this site. [https://github.com/KALRONG/mysticbbs/blob/master/mystic/docs/unix.ins tall.txt](https://github.com/KALRONG/mysticbbs/blob/master/mystic/docs /unix.install.txt) where I input the command to run the door I tried both ( dosemu -I"serial { com 1 virtual }" "/mystic/doors/stackem.bat" %N /DOS ) and ( dosemu -I"serial { com 1 virtual }" "home/madeium/mystic/doors/stackem.bat" %N /DOS ) and I get an error unrecognized argument: /home/madeium/mystic/doors/stackem.bat For passing DOS command use -E I posted a snapshot I took. can anyone give me any advice? \-MADEiUM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UCN_cyberstrator · 2023-06-22 21:10 If you figure it out head over to this MysticBBS sub and post your findings. Most times when you give an argument, you precede it with a switch, your example doesn't have a switch like -e for example preceding the .bat file argument. Please check and let me know what you get. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Total_Initiative5120 · 2023-06-23 00:01 I am pretty sure I gave permissions on all folders and files using chmod etc.. i will double check but I did try placing the -E argument before the .bat file. i put in a couple places. oh and yes the correct path is /home/madeium/mystic/doors. I will give it another shot when i get home later tonight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gnu2tux · 2023-06-23 00:57 Good luck! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chumprock · 2023-06-25 19:29 So.... Any luck? I'm guessing the -E argument was supposed to be passed in your autoexec. the last line you *probably* have in that file is **unix -e**. And if you did it like me then you can try running dosemu in the shell and you'll see something like: "bad command or file name - unix" E which means it didn't load that last part, which I think is what you need to get the bat file to run... (but I could be wrong). I'm obviously in a similar spot and I've run out of hair to pull out, so hopefully you've done better. **EDIT** - NOPE. the -E flag is supposed to be used in the path I think and was unrelated to the error I get with that "unix -e" at the end of my autoexec. When I tried to manually run dosemu "/opt/mystic/doors/LORD/START.BAT" I received the same error. Then I learned about the -K flag to specify the directory: *-K Specify unix path for program running with -E* So I was able to successfully boot the game from my shell with: dosemu -E"START.BAT" -K"/opt/mystic/doors/LORD/" But when I break out the path in the menu's launcher I get the same stupid -E flag error, so I guess I'm still stuck and hoping you had some kind of revelation you're willing to share...
