DoorRoot BBS Door Library for PowerBasic (1998) - registration? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- robbiew · 2023-05-23 16:09 OK, I've got an unhealthy obsession with DOS-based BBS door development/creation software from the 90's... And I was messing around with a variety of the programming libraries from the [BBS Archive's](http://archives.thebbs.org/ra134a.htm) collection of door kits (and working on Part II of [this article](https://retroshed.us/bbs-door-dev-1/) as well) when I came across **DoorRoot** from **SaltySoft Software**. It's written in PowerBasic, which caught my eye, and fairly well documented compared to other (mostly Pascal) kits out there. From the example program to handling of status bars, dropfile variables, ANSI, menus, etc. However, it needs a $10 registration in order to remove the nag screen after a door created with it runs. The instructions are vague, but sounds like some code from the author needs to be dropped into one of the source files to make the nag go away. Does anyone know if the author, David Kiesling, is around? Looks California-based, Crescent City, at the time. I'd gladly pay the $10, just for historical purposes! Looks like it was used in TriBBS circles, and "Freejack's Place" HQ BBS was mentioned in the docs. Any help appreciated... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vga256 · 2023-05-23 17:24 This data has been replaced & removed.
