Rusty & Edie's on Netflix's MoneyShot doc reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- s1500 · 2023-03-22 14:30 I was shocked to see a BBS reference, well, anywhere. But when I was watching Money Shot: The PornHub Story, there it was. It was showing the earliest(and boy do I mean earliest) forms of online porn. Even the ASCII boobies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-03-22 14:59 (* Y *) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rlauzon · 2023-03-22 15:28 PETSCII boobies were much more realistic. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ebookit · 2023-03-22 19:59 There was a BASIC computer game that printed out centerfolds on a printer in ASCII art. Rusty & Eddies was more of a pirated BBS in that they didn't care what was uploaded and never checked, sort of like the Usenet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gnu2tux · 2023-03-23 07:38 Is it just me or were you irked also when the woman described ascii porn as being on the early internet, whilst the cutscene is of a connection to a BBS? 😁 Am like no, lady, please stop and explain that BBSes were around before the web and there were many horny little lads spanking it to ASCII and 16 colour GIFs long before your newfangled world wide web 🤣 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SqualorTrawler · 2023-03-23 09:46 People whacked it to ASCII porn? I remember coming across this and thinking, "This is a lot of effort for very little effect." Actually it does call to mind a story - one of those early ASCII things was several pages long so you couldn't get much of a sense of it unless you printed it out, and so I did on my MPS-802 printer there, and I left it on my desk or something. My mother was in the room for some reason and was - she is a little out there - kinda mad about it. I remember her saying, "DO YOU WANT A GIRL - LIKE THIS - FOR YOUR WIFE?" (like I said, out there. My mother did, like, rails of Catholicism. If she could roll up a hundred dollar bill and just hoover the Eucharist off of a mirror, she would. It got out of hand several times.) And I knew what she meant - she was slut shaming the ASCII woman (things could get really stupid in my house), but I answered, "I don't know, she might be really into Floyd, so, maybe." Being into Floyd was, then, a non-negotiable requirement. This did not go down well. I wonder if that ASCII representation of a woman was into Floyd. Like if maybe, somewhere in all of those glyphs, if you algorithmically converted them to music, if maybe there was just a little snippet of Crumbling Land or something, by sheer random chance.
