How the heck do I get the door game, "Netrunner" working on my BBS...???!!? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- badassbradders · 2022-10-22 22:16 I am running a Mystic BBS on my Raspberry Pi.. Getting the hang of most things but now struggling with door games. Again, not much in terms of easy to follow guides out there, and as always tons of assumed knowledge. I have the Zip for the game, and as another option I have the files for BBSLink to get going, but Mystic is not easy. I'm totally overwhelmed. Help!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2022-10-22 22:20 Is there a dosemu for pi? I didn't think there's one. I wrote a how-to to use freedos and qemu on the pi. I don't run a bbs anymore but I'm sure the how-to is still out there somewhere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2022-10-22 22:22 https://web.synchro.net/?page=001-forum.ssjs&sub=fsx_mys&thread=10650 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OrganicPrinciple130 · 2022-10-23 00:37 Oh the memories of setting up doors... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- redmax_ · 2022-10-23 01:30 I had a hard time getting NetRunner to execute on my BBS (Synchronet) on Slackware Linux. I had installed Dosemu and FreeDos 1.0 then fiddled with the setup and command lines until it magically started working. The docs with the door are generally not complete but a nice starting point making the process 90% commandline and pathing and 10% bbs setup. My "gotcha" was the Fossil driver as it would only run under Bru, everything else just crashed back to the menu. I'd like to get Dosemu2 installed but, that has proven difficult since I'll need to alter the Synchronet config to handle the change. Have never used Mystic (yet at least) to take my story to be a nice anecdote for the joys of getting Dos doors to work on Linux hardware. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- badassbradders · 2022-10-23 08:39 Ah. Thanks. 😐 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AffectionateCurve283 · 2022-10-26 17:27 If it's a DOS door game, then you will need dosemu2, which I don't think will work properly on a raspbery pi, since it will need x86 based virtualization enabled on the processor level. For the pi, you would need to find native Linux games or maybe .js games. In order to run DOS doors, you would want to run Mystic on x85 or amd64 Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- badassbradders · 2022-10-26 17:56 Thank you!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WillAdmitWhenWrong · 2023-05-21 23:09 Hey, did you ever get it running? Would appreciate some tips if you did.
