Good QWK Clients for Linux reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GrimpenMar · 2022-06-16 04:43 Just dipping my toe into some BBS-ing after a 25-ish year absence. Probably a common enough tale, and as I muddle my way through and figure things out, I've found myself using QWK for offline mail reading. I'm currently using MultiMail, since it was the one QWK offline mail reader on my Linux distros package manager. It works well enough, and as I mentioned, I'm still figuring stuff out. As such I'm wondering if there are other options to be recommended. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sai_ruk · 2022-06-16 05:29 Interested in this as well, I haven't started looking into it yet ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brighton_on_avon · 2022-06-16 06:13 There's not a lot out there. One alternative to Multimail that has a GUI interface is TitanMail, which is here https://gitlab.com/apamment/titanmail - you'll probably have to compile it yourself You could also download an old mail reader for DOS and read QWK packets through an emulator, which kinda works but you might struggle to copy paste links. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rlauzon · 2022-06-16 09:45 It's a lot of work, but you could set up DOSBox on your Linux system. Then you can run any of the old DOS QWK readers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GrimpenMar · 2022-06-16 20:49 Maybe, I use DOSBox regularly. I even have some old DOS Comm programs from work (PLC serial communication et al). MultiMail seems fine, so it's not a serious impediment. I just took the hard way to reconnecting to BBSes, and spent far too long trying to get PuTTY to handle ZModem before discovering all the pointers to use NetRunner or SyncTerm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mmunson · 2022-07-05 22:53 Titan mail is another alternative.
