My BBS list from 1992 - Portland,Or reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cosmotherobot · 2021-11-27 23:38 Was cleaning out the garage and found this in with a bunch of old computer stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rblue · 2021-11-28 00:11 Oh wow even has the coffee ring. 😍 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RolandMT32 · 2021-11-28 01:40 I grew up in the Portland, OR area (and still live there). I got my own first computer (along with a modem) in 1992. A couple of those BBS names look familiar, but I don't think I used any of them. I remember a few of the Portland area BBSes I used, but I don't see them in your list. :P ---------------------------------------------------------------------- l-kinbote · 2021-11-28 01:51 Ran Pirates Chest when I was in high school, back in 88-91. Great times. Board was ran on an Emulex clone called Aftershock. Was also a beta tester for T.A.G. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cosmotherobot · 2021-11-28 05:07 I love that! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RooR67 · 2021-11-28 10:59 I loved BBSes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SurrealEstate · 2021-11-28 13:52 This is treasure. I wish I still had my old ratty notebook with the ever-changing list of local(ish) BBS numbers scrawled in the margins with whatever writing implement I had on-hand. Thanks for evoking those memories. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- izzo34 · 2021-11-28 23:08 I lived just up the road. I knew a few of the bbs up there at that time. Wonder if any of them are listed. I had a BBS going in the 90s too as a teen. St Helen's area ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JudgeGroovyman · 2021-11-29 00:21 This is great. I had a list like that too. I bet most of us did. Print the original but then annotate with many notes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-11-30 01:54 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-12-06 17:23 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-12-06 17:25 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- djrisc · 2021-12-07 06:08 No Name BBS! I love seeing the coffee ring and all the scribbled out passwords. ;-) I used to have lists like that. ;-) I took my BBS down in 1998 when I moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Portland, Oregon. So, I pretty much missed the BBS scene in Portland. However, in 2017, I put my BBS back up. It's one of a hand full in the Portland area that's up and running today. And it's just one of two that offers dial-up access (as well as telnet) in the Portland area.
