The name is a return to the original roots of the product (wg1 would have been MBBS 7, wg2 would have been MBBS 8 and wg3 would have been MBBS 9 if the change to WG didn't happen). The most significant change from WG3NT is that the code has been ported to be compiled under MSVC rather than Borland. This means current tools such as Visual Studio can be used for development. As for client server mode, this has been one of the casualties along with AHTML. These technologies are not able to be ported (in addition they are outdated and not secure). The rlogin server option from your second question is also something that gets asked regularly and is not something that has a simple solution sadly. This is another wishlist item however I don't have any timeframe for it.
