Shotgun Professional BBS reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BryanLee50 · 2021-11-22 01:50 I seen someone post a video of a RoboBOARD/FX BBS awhile back and thought I'd share this video I made of Running a Shotgun Professional BBS. I've spent a lot of time and effort getting the SVGA Terminal working with the system and so I thought I'd share this with you all :) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1- Cc4NX0quk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-Cc4NX0quk) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vga256 · 2021-11-22 05:33 I’d like to hear more about this board software. The UI sure reminds me of Borland Delphi. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sardaukar_siet · 2021-11-22 11:08 This is pretty cool. Is the software still available somewhere? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PraiseBobSlackOff · 2021-11-22 11:45 There’s a version called Gun Shot that’s available: https://www.randm.ca/bbs/gunshot/ I have zero experience with it, though it’s been in the periphery for, well, years now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BryanLee50 · 2021-11-22 13:13 The software is very easy to find online (including the source code) however it's incredibly plagued with bugs. Also you'll need to have a copy of all of the SVGA Tool kits for Borland Pascal in order to compile the code which are extremely rare and hard to find. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BryanLee50 · 2021-11-22 13:15 >cool. Is the software still available somewhere Yup! it's definitely Borland Pascal code also I noticed your User Name so you'll most likely be familiar with the SVGA Tool Kits for Borland Pascal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vga256 · 2021-11-22 14:52 Very cool! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nhaines · 2021-11-22 22:05 *Is* it available? I couldn't find it anywhere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PraiseBobSlackOff · 2021-11-23 02:56 I suppose not. I didn’t check the github link. Sorry about that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nhaines · 2021-11-23 03:08 It's all right. I saw it last week but didn't know the original software it cloned. Imagine it showing up here a couple days later! I meant to email the guy, who's done a ton of other interesting stuff, including the web-based telnet client I'd need to get any of my kid and his friends to look at this crazy ol' BBS stuff! I doubt I'll get them into TW2002, but I'll bet they like LoRD! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PraiseBobSlackOff · 2021-11-23 12:00 I used to use his GameSrv program quite a bit about 20 years ago! FTelnet was a pretty important contribution to the bbs scene, in general. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BryanLee50 · 2021-11-23 20:26 Yes it can be downloaded from The BBS Archives here: ftp://archives.thebbs.org/bbs\_programs/sg20src.zip ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BryanLee50 · 2021-11-23 20:37 I agree Rick Parish is awesome! he's done a lot to help the BBS scene, I spoke with him a few years ago about trying to compile the SG Source Code however he didn't have many of the needed SVGA Tool kits required to compile the code in it's current state so I think he kind of gave up on it. I've managed to hack and slash the software using a number of utilities and was successful with getting the software about 98% bug free (most of the bugs were related to SG's Front end mailer) I just dumped it in favor of a stand alone front end software **WFC.EXE** (wait for call) which answers the incoming telnet connection and passes it along to the necessary files needed to start the BBS and everything seems to work really well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PraiseBobSlackOff · 2021-11-23 22:33 Please tell me more about this front end, wfc.exe. I used to use GameSrv to do that, then used it as an actual game server without a bbs. Netfoss does this also, I think? If there’s another front end, I’d like to know more about it. Ddg provided me with everything I needed to know about Windows Firewall Control but nothing for Wait For Call! Danke!
