Able to install dosemu on ubuntu 20.04 for door games? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HarunaFujiwara · 2021-11-17 07:55 Is it possible (via tarball or anything really) to install dosemu after 18.04 since multiverse is default disabled and enabling won't add the dosemu pack? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aplos9 · 2021-11-17 15:54 Yep! I just did it the other day after upgrade. Just install the tar ball available and you will be back up and running. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- robbiew · 2021-11-17 20:35 This worked for me -- https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/focal/amd64/dosemu/1.4.0.7+20130105+b028d 3f-2build1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HarunaFujiwara · 2021-11-18 08:37 I just changed to synchronet yesterday after my server decided to spasm :( So well now I'm using synchronet with dosemu2 a new version for 20.04 I love it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nelgin · 2021-12-01 18:56 The only problem with dosemu is that it will not run tradewars. Hobo on #synchronet irc channel at [irc.synchro.net](https://irc.synchro.net) has managed to get TW to work wit dosemu2 and he's working on documentation for it. That's a good place to hang out if you're running Synchronet. For anyone wanting to run the dosemu then robbiew's solution works fine. I've got everything else to run using dosemu 1.4.0.7. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Purduecoz · 2022-02-01 02:01 Did you need to do anything special for Synchronet to use dosemu2, or basically follow the same processes as with Dosemu? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HarunaFujiwara · 2022-02-05 12:02 the best would be to join the synchronet server and ask "MarisaG" tthey helped me with setup and its awesome ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bob_fred · 2022-03-17 18:24 Were you launching your Door apps from a BBS, or just straight from Ubuntu? If I run dosemu directly from Ubuntu, I see an error `dosemu error: mfs: couldn't find root path /media/cdrom` as DOS is loading, but it continues on and lets me run the Door app fine. When launching from the BBS, it hangs there on the no CD-rom error and just have to close the telnet connection. I've read the dosemu docs on needing to load the CD driver, redirect to the \*nix mount path, etc. but as it's running on a server, there is no cd-rom; was hoping to tell it to just not even attempt loading the CD. Tried setting the option in dosemu.conf to `$_cdrom = ""` but that seems to make it still try the default. Edit: Nevermind. Moment of mental flatulence. Found the line in autoexec.bat and just commented it out. `rem lredir e: linux\fs/media/cdrom c` ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-01-15 05:36 [removed]
