Does anyone know the name of this BBS Door game?

In the 1980's I was playing a lot of BBS door games, including one
that was about running a kingdom and attacking other players. The
world was filled with spaces which were different terrain (mountains
were impassable) and your units consisted of chess pieces which you
could buy more of (I think) and had to use to conquer new areas. Does
anyone know what this door game might be?

This is a hard one...

I can think of quite a few games with map terrain like you describe,
with impassable mountains and such (LORD2, Operation Overkill,
iMMortal Combat), but I don't think you mean those.  The part about
chess pieces has me stumped though.

Long shot, but *maybe* World of Tears is what you're thinking of?

Yeah, I played it in the 80s on a friend's bbs, but he can't recall
the name. I so wish I could find it. :)

I think it might have been MEDIEVAL WAR DOOR v1.1.  I haven't had any
luck trying to get it to run, though.

Yeah, trying to get a dummy door.sys that works with it, not sure
where to locate that though.. I know it's generated by PCBOARD but I'm
not sure I want to bother installing PCBOARD just to get a door.sys :)

Ah well, it's further than I got before at least!
