I notice that VAdv is not in the list of BBS packages on the right
side. It is still an active package and community.

VADV hasn't been developed in years. What you're seeing is an after
market add-on to help bring VADV to the Internet.

Actual production on VADV stopped over 20 years ago.

I ran it for a number of years, and even ran it "in the cloud" for a
while (with the helper program I'm describing).

So even though there is a niche community that supports it, overall
development stopped years ago. People have been trying to obtain/buy
the source code for years but to no avail.

Even though it's not in active development, it makes sense to me that
it should be an option to 'Create your own BBS'. It wouldn't hurt to
message a moderator and ask.

The main core may no longer be in active development, but there is
still active support and the telnet interface is still being worked
on.

It’s such a shame. I ran a vabbs way back when, and loved the
virtualnet a lot more than Fido and the others.
