How to use BBS today? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goreidea · 2021-03-09 18:31 I’m trying to call the BBS number (425)-822-5251 but it doesn’t appear to work on phones, is there any BBS programs or am I just making a fool of myself right now? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oh_nater · 2021-03-09 18:35 It's probably gone. You can telnet or SSH into some over the internet like [https://serionbbs.com/](https://serionbbs.com/) (which also has a telnet client on that page). That's equivalent to dialing other than it's faster and you don't get to listen to the melodious modem handshake. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goreidea · 2021-03-09 18:36 Oh, thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CharlieBrown197 · 2021-03-09 18:46 The number does not appear to work anymore. But to dial into BBSes, you can't use a cell phone. You need a landline connected to a modem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dmine45 · 2021-03-09 18:59 Yeah, that number has been disconnected. You need a modem and a landline to make it happen. Sometimes you can use a VOIP as a landline, not guaranteed to work all the time. Yep, just like the early days of the Internet, you need old school equipment. :) But, there are around 1000 BBSes on the Internet via Telnet or SSH! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gnu2tux · 2021-03-09 19:28 Check out the documentary, Back to the BBS, it covers using the BBS in the modern day: https://youtu.be/n0OwGSX2IiQ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- blakespot · 2021-03-09 19:48 I put together [a little BBSing resource page](https://bytecellar.com/bbsing/) not long ago, which may help to some degree. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThePhantomEye_c · 2022-09-08 14:39 Did you ever find something? I'm really interested what it actually meant for the arg ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goreidea · 2022-09-08 14:54 Never did unfortunately ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThePhantomEye_c · 2022-09-08 16:03 Sad ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Suspicious_Chapter24 · 2022-11-10 05:44 Hello this is 2022 I want to know.
