What numbers should I add to the dial-up modem pool? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-11-19 17:53 Just to widen this to mostly everyone within the United States, I want to expand the availability of this service. Please comment which city you would like to add here for local calling. Cities already covered: * NYC * Atlanta * East Los Angeles (Rialto area) * Albuquerque * Miami (incl. the Florida Keys) * West Los Angeles * Salt Lake City * Las Vegas * Reno * Philadelphia (specifically Zone One) * Orlando * Boston * Sydney, AUS * San Francisco * Oakland, CA * Houston * Austin, TX * Fredericksburg, VA * Akron, OH * Cleveland (Terrace Rate Center), OH (I don't think Canada would be eligible; save Sydney, Australia where someone there graciously gave us his numbering resources to forward it here) If the upvotes are more than 15 in the comments, I'll add the number. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhotoJim99 · 2020-11-19 20:07 How could Canada be made eligible? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-11-19 23:44 Um... this is hard to explain. Regional Telephone Corporation is based in New York as a ULEC (Unbundled Local Exchange Carrier / actual term from Bellcore documents). We don't have access to numbering resources in Canada unless someone would graciously lend us a number from there with unlimited inbound. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cwstephenson71 · 2020-11-19 23:53 Cleveland? What about UK and Germany? They have a lot of Amiga Users, a lot with modems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-11-20 00:31 Done (for Cleveland). Please note the number, 234-702-5300. We don't have access to numbering resources from the UK and Germany. I wish we did. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-11-23 06:00 The number I posted is for Akron, OH callers. I found one (in the Terrace rate center) for Cleveland, OH. Please note the number, 216-260-2250. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-12-08 00:51 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- praetorius242 · 2020-12-08 00:53 Dallas or Fort Worth would be cool. What kind of service is this. I've been thinking about getting a landline and doing dial-up UUCP on an SGI server. I have like 5 modems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-12-08 02:10 I actually have a number for that. 469-501-5890. This is a BBS modem pool which can be explained by dialing up that number using a terminal and modem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- praetorius242 · 2020-12-08 05:00 That's super cool! Now to aquire a phone line that isn't VoIP! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucidphreak · 2020-12-14 15:29 Dallas? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ramsaso · 2020-12-14 19:50 Dallas already covered. 469-501-5890
