Trying to find two door games reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubabbl2 · 2020-11-09 03:20 Back in the 90's in high school, I was active on local BBSs. Two games in particular I remember, but I've lost the names. One was a sort of 4x game, but ran in real time. you would fly your ship through sectors of space, discovering planets. Over time, these planets would gain resources, and if you were lucky, you could find a planet left by someone else, undefended, but had grown a considerable amount of resource. I remember your ship was an \*. The second was an RPG. I remember even less about this game except it was a lot of fun, was multiplayer, and one of the harder parts was, if I remember correctly, a white tower. It was a sort of mud style go north south east west affair, and on the board you usually had limited time each day to play. Anyone able to find any meaning in these descriptions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vga256 · 2020-11-09 04:00 The first, I’m thinking, could be [Planets: The Exploration of Space]( https://breakintochat.com/wiki/Planets:_The_Exploration_of_Space)? Any chance the second one was Legend of the Red Dragon? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Havrim · 2020-11-09 05:18 First one sounds a lot like tradewars 2002. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- redbrickchimney · 2020-11-09 07:06 i'm getting a VGA planets vibe. most doors are turn based ship was an *? on a map? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubabbl2 · 2020-11-09 11:11 Had a look at the first. That was not the game. I don't think second was LORD. Fights were real time when you went into a room. I remember because people with 14.4k modems at the time had an advantage because the battle text scrolled faster. It was defiinately ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubabbl2 · 2020-11-09 11:14 Not tradewars. You definitely traveled around in real time, not turn based. The map was similar to The Pit in that it was a grid, and you flew across it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubabbl2 · 2020-11-09 11:16 Yeah, that's was a remember. I looked at VGA planets, don't think that was it either. I've tried searching for all BBS door games to browse them. Know of any place that has a sort of inventory? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2020-11-09 14:23 First might be Global Warfare or maybe Dominions ][ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vga256 · 2020-11-09 14:38 Ah okay. How about [The Pit](https://breakintochat.com/wiki/The_Pit)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2020-11-09 16:43 The first one also sounds like it could be an old wwiv chain game called Star Clash. It was a 20x20 grid playing field. You take your ships with you in a fleet, and attack neighbor sectors. If you win the battle, you own the sector. You can change options to spend money on building ships, etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Havrim · 2020-11-09 17:47 Ooh...if you find out I wanna know, cause that sounds pretty awesome. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arcadeshopper · 2020-11-09 17:53 Galactic empire and tele-arena? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- redbrickchimney · 2020-11-09 20:38 bbs archive ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubabbl2 · 2020-11-09 21:43 Holy cow 2 for 2. Thank you very much. I’ve been trying to find these forever! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arcadeshopper · 2020-11-09 21:45 You can play both at thekeep.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Exciterusa · 2020-11-10 02:59 If the game was text only it might have been Esterian Conquest. That game could take up to 9 months to play.
