Problem with SEXPOTS not accepting any input

Hello everyone. You are my last hope for this. I am trying to use
SEXPOTS to have a modem answer a call, and then telnet to a BBS on a
different computer. I changed nothing about the setup, and it was
working flawlessly for months. Keep in mind that I was using a
modified version of SEXPOTS that allowed the use of a menu to select
between several servers, but I tried a fresh copy of the normal
version of SEXPOTS, and the same issue occurs. When I dial in at any
baud rate, the BBS comes up fine, but if I try to type on the
keyboard, nothing happens. If the BBS asks me ANSI or ASCII, and I try
to press 1 for ANSI, the 1 does not appear, and pressing enter gives
no results. I have determined that it is not a problem of a faulty
phone line, as dialing out to other BBSes works just fine. Can anyone
figure out what happened? Failing that, has anyone found any
alternatives to SEXPOTS that work well? I am at my wit's end. Thanks
