One source is http://software.bbsdocumentary.com and the companion DVD
set http://bbsdocumentary.com

As for Soviet BBSs, you can find some hits there @
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Abbsdocumentary.com+russian

Another source is textfiles.com @ https://www.google.com/search?q=site
%3Atextfiles.com+russian+soviet+bbs

Try different search criteria as usual of course.

Also, don't forget UUCP/USENET, lots of cross over.

Finally, you can access old FIDONET messages that probably talk a ton
about cold war.

You may want to roll up your sleeves and sort through
http://bbslist.textfiles.com/usbbs.html and find listings for BBSs
during the time period. They list sysop's name if available. Good
luck!

What is meant by "archived bulletin boards"? Are you looking for
backups of bulletin boards that have been taken down, old bulletin
boards that are still running, etc.? I made a backup of my original
BBS I ran in the 90s (1994-2000) and still have the CD-R, though I
know mine is probably later than you're looking for, and I'm not sure
if that's even what you're looking for..

If you are looking for information about bulletin boards, some sources
have already been pointed out. I think the BBS Documentary (by Jason
Scott), pointed out by mycall, is very informative.
