Newb questions. Please be kind! reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JetsetCat · 2019-12-27 13:03 I used to dial in to British systems in the 1980s, mainly Prestel/Micronet800 and occasionally CiX and even the French Minitel system once or twice. So, I am hankering for a nostalgia trip. My questions are: 1. Are there any BBSs which can be accessed just by going to a website? (please nobody respond with www.reddit.com) 2. Are there any which emulate the Prestel style of display? 3. I understand that the Terminal application on Mac OS can be used to access BBSs. What else is needed? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- elchicharo · 2019-12-27 16:06 Checkout this info on terminal access to WWIV https://wwivbbs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/clients/ Its relevant to other systems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- blakespot · 2019-12-27 23:04 I have just put this page together as a very basic sort of BBS resource for those wanting to check out BBSing. https://bytecellar.com/bbsing/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JetsetCat · 2019-12-28 13:14 Thanks very much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JetsetCat · 2019-12-28 13:15 Thanks. Much appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nevarro · 2019-12-28 20:47 I can speak to 1: Many BBSes (such as my own) leverage fTelnet to make their BBS accessible on a website. The fTelnet client web page is here: [https://www.ftelnet.ca/](https://www.ftelnet.ca/) Check out Telnet BBS Guide ([https://www.telnetbbsguide.com](https://www.telnetbbsguide.com)). The website uses fTelnet to make BBSes listed there accessible through their website. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JetsetCat · 2019-12-28 20:49 Great! Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arelas404 · 2020-01-09 19:05 If you want, you can check out [vortexbbs.com](https://vortexbbs.com) We have a telnet client embedded in the site, so you don't have to have any software to access it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JetsetCat · 2020-01-09 19:14 Nice, thanks!
