MajorBBS games in SynchroNet? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- enderandrew42 · 2019-10-30 14:50 /u/cloverskull posted a thread trying to get MajorBBS games (wtlord, majormud) as well as some tbbs games (legends, bandwarz) working in another BBS. They wanted to run these on a headless Linux server. I'm looking to create a Synchronet BBS on a headless Linux VPS myself. Their thread from a year ago didn't really have any follow-ups or answers that I saw. /u/danielspain said he ported a game to C to not need WG anymore, but didn't specify which game. /u/tele-arena mentions that you can run both Synchonet and WG side-by- side and have Synchronet then rlogin to a WG game. Is this the only solution? If so, are there instructions for such a set-up? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- darkytoo2 · 2019-10-31 12:41 I did something like this at one point, I had synchronet answer the calls, but I had the other bbs software setup as "doors" on synchronet and had them setup as external telnet links in the synchronet menu. I doubt you'll ever see anyway to run tbbs things outside of tbbs since they're essentially database files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tdinchak · 2019-11-01 16:44 I wanted to run "generic" doors alongside some WG/MBBS doors and ended up writing a lightweight server in node that can do the job of the headless Synchronet BBS/rlogin setup. It uses dosbox behind the scenes and I have it running headless under VMWare. I understand you're looking to go the other way, but I figured I'd throw this out there anyway in case it was of any interest. Here's my original post about it: https://reddit.com/r/bbs/comments/czbhwo/doornode_bbs_door_server The post has links to the source code on github with setup instructions along with a link to my BBS where you can see how it works for the end user. Hope you find it useful.
