BlueBoard BBS (C64) reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucidphreak · 2019-10-24 19:19 Anyone have a copy? Its not on the web but was very popular so I am assuming someone here might have it? I'll drop a $20 paypal for anyone who has it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SqualorTrawler · 2019-10-24 19:40 I used to have this, pirated, back in the 80s. It sticks in my mind because it felt a lot different than other packages - it had a polished/ML quality other systems didn't (it might have even used custom fonts on the sysop-side for the interface - I faintly remember something unique about either the fonts or the scrolling). It also felt very hard-coded which is something I didn't like. It did, however, feel very professional and competently written. But I can't recall ever calling a BlueBoard. Where I was at, everything on Commodores was either one of the C-Net or C-Net descended (e.g., Image) packages, or All American. But I very much remember it because it made an impression on me. I am surprised how the software has become extinct. I did some googling (I saw your query on Lemon64) because it seems odd that I would have once had this in my possession (I was never a serious collector of Commodore software) and it doesn't even show up in the TOSEC torrents I've found. I do hope it is unearthed. I haven't thought about this since I was playing with it sometime in the 80s. It is weird, human memory, how much obscure data we store only to be brought out decades later by a mention. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucidphreak · 2019-10-24 21:27 I would like to run a c= board that few others run/ran and I also thought it would be a nice thought to do it in the authors name (who died).. I do know a lot folks are also looking for it so maybe even throw up a website dedicated to it and be a "support site"... Wouldn't make a penny of course - but like you its weird how something could just disappear.. I saw BBS lists that had "BlueBoard" as an option in their bbs software key - so I have to think it was at least somewhat popular in some area of the USA... Thanks for your reply! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SqualorTrawler · 2019-10-25 02:05 Whatever it is worth to you I'm going to keep my eye out. I honestly don't care of some obscure game is lost to the ages as there are approximately one billion games for the Commodore 64, but it feels wrong to have a BBS package, of which there were not many by comparison, go extinct. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucidphreak · 2019-10-25 02:08 Hey thank you... I’m sure it will turn up.. I’ve added it to the “bounties” list on my web page (www.wardialers.org) and it gets a little traffic from people that might be aware of its location... we shall see. I think all software should be preserved.. I’m just not a gamer. I am into hacking/phreaking/comms/bbs apps for the most part. I also have a fondness for crack screens and even noters.. lol.
