Wow! Blast from the past reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BaronVonStrad · 2019-09-06 21:54 I got into calling BBSes in the 80s. My friend had a bread box C64 and a 300 Baud VicModem. We started off calling CompuServe until that got too expensive, and then we found BBS numbers to call in a magazine called Computer Shopper. I think the first ones we called regularly were running on Apple IIs. Later we found some Color64 boards to call. There were 4 or 5 of those that we’d call regularly. We were into trading warez and playing door games. Empire Colony was one of my favorites. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dcpanthersfan · 2019-09-06 22:02 I have two: The Fone Company tfcbbs.com:6464 (Color 64 version) - no games yet. tfcbbs.com:6400 (Supra 128 version) - lots of games. 23 I think. http://tfcbbs.com for the web terminal. I know it's not secure. https screws with the terminal. More stuff at color64.com. Both are running on original Commodore hardware and are the same software/mods from the 90s. The Supra board only works with Commodore (something weird with the linefeeds on ASCII). ANSI works. Would appreciate the calls and traffic. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BaronVonStrad · 2019-09-06 22:12 Thanks! Will definitely check it out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RadioFreeLuna · 2019-09-07 13:06 Cool man, was a BBSer and Quasi-SySop as a young kid in the 90's. Ran a renegade board in the 613 area code. Used Procomm and Telex for eternal dialing. For Door games was a big TW2002 and BRE player. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BaronVonStrad · 2019-09-07 13:16 We were in the 312 (now 708) area. There were a lot of Color 64 boards, a few IBM boards were just coming along, a couple of Apple boards, and at least 3 DDial chat boards. We went to a house party once that one of the DDial people had. Met up with some Color 64 people at Photon (laser tag) a few times. The good old days for sure!
