syncterm list compatibility with qodem? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-21 03:56 qodem is my preferred bbs program because its the first one i learned and i already have my ssh servers in it. i dont wanna have to manually input the 700 odd bbs i have into it before i comb through and delete the duds, does anyone know how to import the contents of my list into qodem? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bbs-user-2 · 2019-07-25 20:36 There isn't a direct conversion tool that I know of, but Qodem's fonebook format is very straightforward. If you can figure out how to extract the name, address, and whatever other fields you need, then you can make a fonebook by creating entries that look like this: [entry] name=BBS One address=the.bbs.address port=22 method=SSH username=yourloginname password=yourpassword [entry] name=BBS Two address=the.bbs.address port=22 method=SSH username=yourloginname password=yourpassword The fonebook is just a long list of these plain text entries. And it actually looks like SyncTERM's list is very similar. Hmm... OK, I've made a script that might get you most of the way there: [here it is](https://github.com/klamonte/qodem/blob/1.0.1- dev/misc/convert_syncterm.pl), (raw download link [here](https://raw.g ithubusercontent.com/klamonte/qodem/1.0.1- dev/misc/convert_syncterm.pl) ). This is in Perl, hopefully that won't be a show stopper for you. This will only grab the address, port, username, password, and connection method (and of those, it only recognizes telnet, rlogin, and ssh). Emulation is set to ANSI, codepage CP437. Hope this saves you some time... ** tl;dr - New script [here](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/klamont e/qodem/1.0.1-dev/misc/convert_syncterm.pl) . ** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-25 20:37 thank you friend! ill try this immediately! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-25 20:54 i gave it a shot and the output file has the comment but nothing else. any ideas as to why that might happen? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bbs-user-2 · 2019-07-26 00:08 Hmm, does your syncterm.lst look something like this? [Test] Address =/bin/bash Port =513 Added =Jul 25 2019 14:54:48 LastConnected =Never TotalCalls =0 UserName = Password = SystemPassword = ConnectionType =Shell ScreenMode =Current NoStatus =false [Test2] Address =foo.bar Port =23 Added =Jul 25 2019 14:57:41 ...etc... ...or does it look different? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-26 00:11 my syncterm lists are downloaded from the [bbs nexus (direct link)](https://www.bbsnexus.com/directory/all/syncterm.lst) and the [telnet bbs guide](https://www.telnetbbsguide.com/lists/download- list/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bbs-user-2 · 2019-07-26 00:24 Ah I see, it's a little different. I'll get my script updated, but there is also another script (convert_ibbs.pl in the same directory as convert_syncterm.pl) that should be able to get the telnet BBS guide directly into Qodem fonebook format (unless they changed that too). It'll have to be tomorrow, but I'll get you something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-26 00:25 gosh bless u. the telnet bbs guide is the same as the bbs nexus one i think. ill try it on both. thank you for all that you do c: edit: i am a fool i missed where it said short form lol. this doesnt work for the nexus, as you expected, however it does in fact still work for the telnet bbs short form guide! this has cut out a buttload of the work so far! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bbs-user-2 · 2019-07-27 03:57 Just updated the convert_syncterm.pl script, it was able to convert the syncterm.lst Nexus link you provided. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mechroCutie · 2019-07-27 04:28 yaaaaaaay!!!!! gosh hemkin frickinn blesss yu!!!!!!! >U<
