NetRunner license? reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOuterLinux · 2019-04-21 00:41 I'm working on a Linux project and I really like NetRunner and was wondering if anyone knew what its license was. I've seen somewhere that MysticBBS was open sourced, but I don't really know if that applies to NetRunner just because the software is on their site. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2019-04-21 01:30 Mystic BBS was open source at one time. It is closed source now. I don't know about the license for netrunner. Does the docs say? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOuterLinux · 2019-04-21 14:59 .-------------------------------------------. | NetRunner v2.00 BETA 18 Linux 64-bit | |-------------------------------------------| | Free SDL2-based telnet client for BBSes | | ANSI BBS emulation, batch ZModem and | | Zmodem 8KB including batch uploads, | | scripting language, macros, multi phone | | books, book sorting, mTelnet and SyncTerm | | book inporting, 5000 line scrollback, | | original DOS and Amiga fonts with auto | | font switching. ANSI mouse driven UI | | designed by Grymmjack coded by g00r00! | `-------------------------------------------' I can't find anything about a license anywhere. And just because it's free doesn't necessarily mean they would want it redistributed. I just wanted to check first. If they had used SDL1.2 (LGPL) instead, then it would probably have been ok, but because it's SDL2 (zlib license) and there's no meantioning of a license for NetRunner itself, it seems as though it's anyone's guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2019-04-21 18:12 The beauty of it is that James is pretty responsive to questions. He sometimes drops out of sight for a few months for rl stuff but he always let's us know before he drops out. You can send him email too if you want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheOuterLinux · 2019-09-03 16:29 Should have asked this a while back, but do you know how I can get into contact with him? I've been working on some things and have been putting it off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dperry324 · 2019-09-03 22:29 I believe that James's email is mysticbbs@gmail.com.
