Recovering lost fidonet ID

I was a user of fidonet by early 90's.

Is it possible somehow to recover my ID I used that time? If yes, how?
I'm open to recreate lost BBQ node as well, or create another one.

No. That fidonet node, which I was connected to, are already decayed.

However, as far as I understand, I had a "handle", which was identify
me.
And I would like to recover that.

Hmmm... then how the "private" messages were transmitted?

Or do I remember wrongly, that that time there were something like
pre-email messages?

So basically, there's only able to get back the given "handle" or, to
recover the old node, and recreate the local username.
Which is then no point to do so :-D

Thank you, it was a great help for me.

Still thinking to recover the node though, but I'll see, how much work
it needs.

There are other systems you can participate in fidonet today. If you
want to run a telnet bbs you can use synchronet or mystic to make it
happen.
