I was a sysop back in the 1990s.. fast forward to 2018, I got bbs fever again.. spend months setting up various systems.. at the end.. IMHO people still active in the ansi scene is very small. youre dedicating hours and money to a dying cause. why suffer through telnet, endless tuning for something that could be done via http (yes, I know it's not the same) I'm not discouraging you, but I was in your situation, after hundreds of hours.. youre addressing a very very small crowd. seems youre light on experience.. bbs systems are not something to throw together.. it's a constant battle to be different, why connect with you, when the guy next door is doing the same. But, if something you enjoy, go for it. tldr: was a sysop for 5 years in the 90s, got nastalgic, spend hours building to realize its a tough niche crowd :) Good luck Sysop. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LushBBS · 2018-12-18 13:39 thankyou for your input i really appreciate it: i have been active in the acene for a few years and had a bbs earlier this year which gains alot of traffic, the scene may be dead but ive realised it isnt, about 10 new games were released this year not to mention many new mods, it just seems like the scene is dead because there is no source like the one i want to create which would put all this informaiton together, many people are still working on new games as we speak! i hoe you keep an eye on what i want to create, and i thankyou for your time and input greatly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JohnnyLootBox · 2018-12-20 16:58 I can pretty much tell you, "validating and processing new users" will not be a task worth your time. If you end up with 10 users you'll be doing good, and every last one of them will be actual people.
