Shell Provider Grex. Get your very own free shell. Access to IIRC, Alpine, Tin, Elinks, Telnet. Learn something new or whatever. reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- swolf154 · 2018-03-27 14:31 Hey. None of you BBS guys can use an extra shell account? There was a time when I would have stood on my head for one. Anyway this is not a BBS per say. It's a shell provider with personal web page telnet in/out, newsgroups, programming languages. Maybe you've heard of them at Grex.org or Cyberspace.org?? Any just fire up your SSH client and connect to newuser@grex.org and just follow the prompts. For details on what goes on the goto https://grex.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- denzuko · 2018-03-27 15:27 Been a long time member of Grex and SDF. They're really great services and while not as extensive for hosting as say a droplet from digitalocean the community at both grex and sdf is really great. One can do just about anything on them (with in context of not being harmful to others) and they're the last bastion of free speech on a internet full of advertisers and corporations out to tax us to death. I wouldn't go online without having a shell account somewheres simply because it doesn't matter how many "VPN" providers are out there and if one runs tor or anything else all of that can and does at times get blocked by ISP or even local network engineers. But from a shell account one can easily just "telnet" or ssh in and be online even with a slow 9-18kbps connection. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nolageek · 2018-03-27 16:46 Since you're posting here on /r/bbs I should ask since I'm sure others would want to know. With a free shell account are you allowed to run servers for accepting incoming connections? (Say.. a telnet bbs?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2018-03-29 05:48 nope
