I'm having some issues with Telegard BBS and DOSBox reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ebojager · 2018-02-27 17:39 Just curious if its cause I've forgotten so much about the software, but I recently tried recreating my TGBBS using DOSBox. My issues are mostly with Telegard not creating any drop files for the door games. Im just working on OOII now, and my work around is manually creating a BBSINFO.OO file, but being that it cant find the drop file its not making one. Is this cause Im using DOSBox with Windows 10 and its running into permission issues? The other thing is when I try and display some of the user listing and some others while logged in as local, I just see a flash below the menu and then its back to the menu, never stays on screen. I tried turning off the clear screen on the menu but thats didn't work. Thanks for any tips. I was thinking of maybe having Telegard use its scripting to create a drop file using MCI codes, but not sure how to use it. UPDATE: I figured out what the issue was with the menus, I needed novice menus on in user settings and pause before display set on the menus. I must have messed with them at some point. Still looking for a fix for the drop files though. UPDATE: It looks like Telegard puts the dropfile in the temp folder and I was looking in the root folder :( So Ive got it working now with this OOIIDOOR.BAT file: CD C:\TGBBS\DOORS\OOII OOINFO 2 C:\TGBBS\TEMP\ MAINTOO OOII CD C:\TGBBS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jww8767 · 2018-02-27 18:31 Sorry I can't offer any help, but wanted to say thank you for letting me see 'Telegard' in my reddit surfing today. Now that I'm kinda looking back into it, it sure was amazing. I'm only using it in local mode and don't have a fossil driver loaded, could that be it? Ive set the proper commands for the door DD and DG. Just not sure what I'm missing or if its an issue running Dosbox .74 and Windows 10. Update....I found it, its putting it in a temp folder not the root, silly me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ebojager · 2018-03-01 04:26 thanks again, I don't think I would have started looking for another place for the dropfile if you had not replied the way you did. The flash in the menu was from the menu not pausing before displaying, so the user list last callers etc would display and immediately get cleared cause I had clear screen before menu and not pause too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2018-03-01 04:31 have fun. telegard is a great bbs software and its simple IPL gives you a lot of options. running a bbs on dosbox is a pain in the ass so i suggest getting a 32bit windows virtual machine built and using net2bbs. i run synchronet on my RG bbs as a telnet server because it has advanced blocking and can handle attacks without crashing. you can do that, too.
