I just had another post removed from a mod because it didn't meet the
sub rules. Every time this happens, I flash back to my BBS days...

Rushing home from school, booting my 8088 clone up with a DOS disk,
swapping it out for one of the com program disks and entering the
string to listen for carrier tone. Dialing the board's number and
praying for it to ring. Oh my god, it's ringing! Not busy! Slam the
handset onto the coupler and crap myself as I heard the muffled tone
handshaking for 300bps. I could type faster than 300bps, and would get
annoyed at the lag as I filled the buffer with my login keystrokes.
Should have just made a macro.

Holy crap, I've got a message! The sysop has granted me co sysop
access! I'm a co sysop! Now I can go to the boards and screw any lamer
that tries to rag on me or my friends. I would rush to the boards and
read any new posts or replies... scanning for someone that was out of
line so that I could put them in their place.

MOM, GET OFF THE PHONE, I'M USING THE MODEM!

Carrier lost, dial back, busy signal.

Time for dinner. Then homework. Then bed. Will try again tomorrow.

... oh man, I made an AutoHotkey app once to add random BBS taglines
to all my posts, but nobody understood.

I never removed msgs from users. Had a bbs in the mid 90s with 50
active users (out of ~100). Fidonet email,  all the funsies and warez
for those who I knew "personally".  I liked each one of my users,
even the paranoid ,  abrasive or trolly folks.  Each brought little
something to my small bbs which I didn't want to filter out. Rather I
just steered conversations if necessary.

Oh wow this brings back so many memories.  Yes, I remember well
rushing home to check my BBS and call the ones I frequented.  Too fun!
