Logged on, not sure if I set myself up there correctly. Am licensed ham, ran a BBS in 80s just outside of Rochester. Fun! Cheers ---------------------------------------------------------------------- warcand · 2016-07-13 11:57 I tried setting up an account earlier, but seemed to have a bit of an issue. I will try logging in a bit later. 73 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-13 12:11 I've been having some issues the past couple of days due to heat. We're getting an unusual bout of 90+ days here, and the BBS is located outdoors (For solar power). I "engineered" it for highs of 80s, and maybe a day or two of 90. But, the poor beast is having a hard time dissipating heat, so I need to install a fan and bug screen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- warcand · 2016-07-13 12:26 Ah OK, that explains it. No big deal. Since you are near Buffalo, hopefully you have a snow plan too. :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2016-07-13 23:47 my bbs has been solar powered for 5 years ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-14 00:02 Cool! I'd be interested in some details of your setup :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2016-07-14 00:10 it's solar powered and a computer. not much to it. sometimes we feed power back into the grid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-14 00:27 Ah, a little different than what I did. The BBS is completely off grid, except it's wifi connection (And soon phone line). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2016-07-14 03:29 do you also use batteries to store the energy? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-14 09:50 Yes. Originally had 20Ah of battery, but that recently was upped to 40Ah. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2016-07-15 03:06 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dzendian · 2016-07-15 03:11 How did you do TradeWars 2002 on the RPi? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-15 12:46 In honesty, I cheated. It's a telgate to a Tradewars 2002 server :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2016-07-15 21:14 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- johnklos · 2016-07-30 06:21 https://sourceforge.net/projects/tradewarsc/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/blacknova/ Shouldn't be too hard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AX_25 · 2016-07-30 16:18 ew, sourceforge... :P I'll check them out. Cross compiling isn't too hard to do, and nothing to lose.
