Anyone remember an old TBBS/TDBS game, something like "Bandwarz" reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cloverskull · 2015-10-09 19:10 I've been searching for this old game for ages and have come up empty handed. I'd love to track it down. I remember playing it while in middle school. It was hosted on the local high school's BBS and it was a fun and silly game, not very involved, but fun nontheless. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wrel_ · 2015-10-10 00:31 I remember BandWarz, but only enough to remember playing it to figure out what the concept of the game even was. I remember starting a band and then either being able to practice our go on tour, but that was all I ever dug into it. The SysOp back then was picky with his time allotment, so I didn't have much time to play other doors in between Cop Squad, Planets, Deathmasters and Clans. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cloverskull · 2015-10-10 08:16 Yeah, I remember it was a pretty neat idea. There was like a top "Billboard" standings list, and you could view neat metrics about what band was the best in many different ways: financial earnings, fan base, critical acclaim, things like that. And you'd bolster your ratings by spending your turns either touring, promoting, practicing, recording, and you had a limited source of funds, and a limited "shelf life" for your band before they retired. It was fun. I wanted to find it and use it as a basis to try and write a clone. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wrel_ · 2015-10-10 15:17 It's interesting to see how many BBS game ideas still live on today in new games, that people who missed out on Doors would never really notice the connection. Clash of Clans is basically the same thing as what the Door game Clans was, to the point where I'd be interested to research it to see if it was either the same people, or someone who stole the idea because the BBS game was freeware at this point. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2015-10-10 23:44 no it isnt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wrel_ · 2015-10-10 23:49 Well there's a well argued counterpoint... -eye roll- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2015-10-11 15:59 well, it just isnt. i dont know how you can compare the two and say they are basically the same.
