Commodore BBS list! Not everything out there is Synchronet.. reddit / bbs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- derfherdez · 2013-02-14 06:01 Ok, so the sleepers awake? so besides [synchronet](http://www.reddit.c om/r/bbs/comments/18gjmc/want_to_get_back_into_the_whole_bbs_scene/) what else interests people heading to /r/bbs? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mro_1337 · 2013-02-17 02:01 nothing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- derfherdez · 2013-02-17 03:42 maybe. I don't know. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tribute · 2013-02-22 00:20 I ran an EleBBS (RemoteAccess/Quickboard clone) a few years back. I wish he was still updating. :/ The general feel for the BBS scene, IMO, died. Not many hobbyists left. Which is sad. Do you have any ideas for the sub? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- derfherdez · 2013-02-22 02:58 discussion on dove net is kind of lively at times.. But granted it is more of sysop to sysop chat, kind of.. redundant. I was thinking of some guides not only on how to setup a BBS, but how to connect to one, or even how to play various door games.. I doubt it'll get major traction but more so interest when people find /r/bbs it'll be interesting info on what on earth was going on at the time.. Unless someone gates reddit onto a BBS front end I don't think it'll go more than that.. although now I almost want to see how those iOS and Android reddit apps work.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- derfherdez · 2013-02-22 03:03 oh yeah have you seen /r/topconsole? very cool CSS ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tribute · 2013-02-22 03:32 I'll look out for some guides. I put out feelers for a RedditBBS some time back. Didn't seem like that great an interest. One person offered to host a few months back, but then someone needs to get involved with the Reddit API (if it even has one that could be ported to a BBS, and then what BBS package) so I couldn't see the utility in it. I might give this sub another push in a few months. The /r/topconsole CSS looks pretty slick. I'll look at possible sub changes soon. If you're handy with CSS your input is welcome! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- derfherdez · 2013-02-22 15:01 I see people mentioning tradewars or LORD from time to time, but as much as I hate to chase after them, maybe it would be for the "better" of everyone.. Also I just found out about this [HTML5 telnet client](http://ftelnet.ca/demos.aspx?htmlterm_basic) along with a simplified door server, GameSrv although it does seem a tad bit windows centric.. I guess what it comes down to is hosting for doors.. I've had QemuOS2 up for nearly two years now.. The biggest limitation I have is that I can't register SIO (the author disappeared) so I'm limited to 4 virtual modems.. Maybe I'm just too enthusiastically flogging a dead horse, but it isn't 100% dead!
