If the PlayStation OS's are based on BSD, then can I play PS games on freeBSD or other BSD based OS? reddit / BSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dainelli28 · 2021-08-26 21:31 Today I found that some PlayStation consoles OS's were built over BSD. So I was wondering if I could play PlayStation games on my PC if I installed freeBSD on my laptop. They use FreeBSD code for a lot of their basic functions but practically all of the graphics, sound, etc. is going to be custom built stuff for which they don’t release any source code. They just have to credit BSD contributors and disclaim their liability. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- demetrioussharpe · 2021-08-26 21:57 Short answer: no. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- devenblake · 2021-08-26 22:31 You can play PS4 games natively on FreeBSD to the same extent that you can play Android games natively on Linux; that is, you can't. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ryanmcgrath · 2021-08-27 21:57 This is potentially stupid as a comment, but if it’s really FreeBSD at its core… kinda wish they’d open source their wifi stack, lol ---------------------------------------------------------------------- minus_minus · 2021-08-27 23:04 It’s probably a klugey mess that only works with one work adapter.
