I’ve run my own eMail server for about two decades now, never
understood the deliverability issue that everyone else claims exists.
My eMails make it through just fine.

Same here. Just make sure you have proper PTR and SPF setup and every
place will be perfectly happy to talk to you.

And when it comes to spam, good RBLs and SpamAssassin(using Postgres
for the learning/config backend) works freaking awesome.

Same.   Server in 1 form or another for years.  No issues.  Just dont
do stupid things.
