helloSystem 0.5 has been released - a FreeBSD fork with macOS-inspired desktop reddit / BSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --aspergers-- · 2021-06-14 15:43 I hope this project takes off! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sigzero · 2021-06-14 18:26 I really like the "macOS" look. I really like this project is adopting it for BSD! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- haroldp · 2021-06-14 19:06 Looks amazing. Would love an arm image for my Raspberry Pi 4! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FarhanYusufzai · 2021-06-14 19:28 I believe there is a barely functional Wine-like userspace "emulator" for Mach binaries. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linuxbuild · 2021-06-14 19:43 See https://hellosystem.github.io/docs/developer/rpi.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linuxbuild · 2021-06-14 19:44 helloSystem 0.5 at Linux Action News 193: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyvJPvJM-is&t=983s ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-06-14 19:56 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- haroldp · 2021-06-14 20:02 Awesome, thanks. I may just try that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- g4ladri3l · 2021-06-15 07:04 I hope this project takes off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- knightjp · 2021-06-15 11:50 I hope this project really goes well and gets more support. It looks amazing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CerebralStatic · 2021-06-16 05:32 >Pipewire: Solution in search of a problem you don't have without Wayland? Pipewire actually goes way beyond that. It helps tremendously in general sound playback (PulseAudio tends to have huge problems with stuff like sampling rate and other stuff that needs to be manually configured), and sound recording, especially ALSA/JACK locking up your entire sound even if the program using it is not playing anything. GIMP should also not be considered for dropping, IMO, because it has, at least for now, quite a different goal in mind than Krita. Right now it's definitely not great as an all around Photoshop - like editor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kvothethecat · 2021-06-16 18:42 This is really cool, I like how they're trying to distance themselves from the mess of XDG and Freedesktop.
