Does anyone have step by step instructions on installing FreeBSD alongside Linux? reddit / BSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bigfatchild999 · 2019-11-18 11:53 I have Linux installed across 2 drives with root at my SSD and Home at my HD. I'd like to install FreeBSD with / on /dev/sdb4 and /home on /dev/sda2 Also installing over wifi ---------------------------------------------------------------------- soyin · 2019-11-18 12:50 Interesting question. Following. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bigfatchild999 · 2019-11-18 12:55 What? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- craftkiller · 2019-11-18 14:20 Not step by step instructions, but back when I had this set up I used uefi which made it hella easy. I installed refind on the efi partition which would then boot Linux directly or load the FreeBSD EFI bootloader. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- m15f1t · 2019-11-18 14:30 The question ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dddddavidddd · 2019-11-18 14:33 I'm particularly interested in installing a ZFS encrypted root alongside another OS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FUZxxl · 2019-11-18 17:47 First install Linux. Create the desired partitions during the installation process using a GPT (EFI) partition table if possible. Then install FreeBSD and configure the desired partitioning scheme. Install the FreeBSD boot loader into the existing EFI partition. This should be all you need. You should then be able to select between Linux and FreeBSD in the EFI boot menu. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- craftkiller · 2019-11-18 18:34 What he's saying is he's posting a comment so he can come back later to see the result. The thing is, Reddit has a feature to save posts, or he could have just used his bookmarks, but instead he's pointlessly making a visible comment and confusing you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bigfatchild999 · 2019-11-19 00:17 Thanks :)
