Invite code for bsd.network reddit / BSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phessler · 2018-12-12 18:07 Here is a link that is good for 10 invites to the bsd.network Mastodon instance. You'll need to agree to our [Code of Conduct](https://bsd.network/terms) during the sign up process. Please don't post this code to other sites. Enjoy! *Edit: and they're gone* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MaskedCoward · 2018-12-13 02:39 what a joke lol ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _xsgb · 2018-12-13 10:03 Pretty happy to see many *BSD developpers being present on the fediverse! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FUZxxl · 2018-12-13 12:43 > Here is a link that is good for 10 invites to the bsd.network Mastodon instance. Fuck off. > You'll need to agree to our Code of Conduct during the sign up process. Double fuck off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fratdaddyZC · 2018-12-13 15:31 Why not just use one or all of the many different BSD irc channels? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-12-13 15:34 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VC1bm3bxa40WOfHR · 2018-12-13 17:47 As a teenager who has very limited experience with IRC, I find it quite frustrating to navigate and use, and I'm unlikely to use it to talk about something unless it's the only place I can go. Mastodon however I find much easier to use and would be more likely to join a relevant mastodon instance than IRC channel. I'm also unsure how easy it would be to use IRC on mobile. For others, obviously their preferences are the reverse. But in the end, choice in places to talk about BSD is surely a good thing, no? :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bobishardcore · 2018-12-13 18:00 I'm a total outsider, why all the hostility? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-12-13 18:14 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FUZxxl · 2018-12-13 18:15 I am annoyed by people who spam their social media platforms on reddit. I am also annoyed by the whole code of conduct movement because I see the kind of rules they propagate as damaging and unproductive because they only serve to escalatate conflict instead of resolving it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sehnsuchtbsd · 2018-12-13 20:21 bsd.network is just a cooler way to join a federated general purpose social network built around an open standard (OStatus/ActibityPub). The instance is mainly populated by BSD users, which make it kinda interesting for *nix fans as the local timeline is typically full of BSD content. That said, joining Mastodon through bsd.network is basically *just joining Mastodon*, a worldwide Twitter/GNUSocial -like social network, whose mere goal is entertainment and socializing. bsd.network is not a technical help support forum nor a communication backend for BSD developers. Unlike Discord, Telegram, Matrix, Slack, doesn't want to be a IRC replacement. And never meant to become one. Ultimately comparing it to official *BSD IRC help channels doesn't make a lot of sense
