An annotated look at a NetBSD Pinebook's startup reddit / BSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MaxPayneNoir · 2018-05-22 10:01 I was seriously thinking of buying a pinebook; looks like I'll put NetBSD on it (with a wifi dongle) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jaypatelani · 2018-05-23 05:00 And LXDE updates coming soon https://twitter.com/YouriMouton/status/998946526406893568?s=19 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MaxPayneNoir · 2018-05-25 10:03 cool! I'm still waiting for better Lumina implementation though ;) On the other hand I recon the netbsd-light-desktop project is very nice ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kernigh · 2018-05-26 05:39 This looks good, except for missing SMP, so it only uses 1 of the 4 cores. It has a working framebuffer for graphics (obvious from the picture) and also claims to have audio. I read elsewhere that [audio(4)](http://netbsd.gw.com/cgi-bin/man-cgi/man?audio+4+NetBSD- current) will have virtual channels in NetBSD 8, so multiple programs will be able to play audio at the same time. OpenBSD/arm64 ~~has no graphics~~ (corrected by phessler below) and needs a serial console. FreeBSD also does ARM but I don't know about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phessler · 2018-05-26 12:18 OpenBSD/arm64 does have graphics with simplefb(4). I use it on my pinebook, too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ezaquarii_com · 2018-07-12 05:44 I thought about buying it until I seen a disappointing battery life.
