It is Android, but you don't have use a Google account (you can skip that part in setup) and it has never been connected to a WiFi. You do have to swipe up to get to the "desktop" but it doesn't have a passcode. It comes with the Files app which can play video and I connect it via USB cable to a PC to transfer video files. It isn't a kiosk, in the sense that all the preloaded apps show up after you swipe up. (It might be possible to remove some or all of those chiclets, but I haven't tried.) Once you pick the files app, you see "all" or "movies" (in my case having the same contents) and you just tap on the one you want. Stereo speakers on the left and right sides in landscape mode and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the right (which happily drive a DT-770). I put it in airplane mode to disable the wifi when in use by a child. Battery is internal and charged via USB-C.
