[SOLVED] Edit Menu > Select Code Block ? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trev · 2021-01-29 07:15 While updating the Wiki, I tried to experiment in the Source Editor so as to write a description of the menu item "Select Code Block" (tried 2.0.10 and trunk). No matter what I tried, I could not get that option to ever select any text in a unit or project file. I must be missing something? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucamar · 2021-01-29 07:36 You're right: apparently it does nothing. I've searched the wiki and there's nothing in it about that item either. It's quite a mistery: what it's supposed to do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trev · 2021-01-29 07:43 Main menu > Search > Find Start of Code Block takes me to the start of "implementation" in the Source Editor. Select Code Block still has no effect... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucamar · 2021-01-29 08:00 "Find Start of Code Block" takes me to what I would call ... the closest start of a code block, be it a "begin", "try", "procedure", etc. That's why I though, logically enough, that "Select code block" would combine that and "Find Other End" and select everything between; instead it does nothing at all ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- balazsszekely · 2021-01-29 08:34 I did take a quick look in trunk. If you open $(LazarusDir)/ide/SourceEditor.pp, line 4566: Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i procedure TSourceEditor.SelectCodeBlock;begin  // ToDo:  DebugLn('TSourceEditor.SelectCodeBlock: not implemented yet');end; Apparently it's not implemented yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trev · 2021-01-29 09:32 Thanks GetMem. It never occurred to me that it wouldn't be implemented ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucamar · 2021-01-29 12:38 Quote from: GetMem on January 29, 2021, 09:34:32 amApparently it's not implemented yet. Then the menu item should be disabled, if it has to be visible for some queer reason. Talk about false expectatives! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 440bx · 2021-01-29 15:29 Don't disable the menu item, all unimplemented functions, when invoked, should display a message box stating : "Congratulations!! - you've have been selected to implement this feature." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucamar · 2021-01-29 16:59 Quote from: 440bx on January 29, 2021, 04:29:27 pmDon't disable the menu item, all unimplemented functions, when invoked, should display a message box stating : "Congratulations!! - you've have been selected to implement this feature." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ASBzone · 2021-01-29 17:00 Quote from: 440bx on January 29, 2021, 04:29:27 pmDon't disable the menu item, all unimplemented functions, when invoked, should display a message box stating : "Congratulations!! - you've have been selected to implement this feature."
