Successful compile, but main form will not display lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CarmichaelJohn · 2020-07-28 21:25 Hello and help please, I had some difficulty with my program, so I created a new package and recoded it in that new package.  I finished it and tried to run it.  The compile was successful, but the main form does Not display at all.  The IDE just sits there showing a green succcess bar, but nothing else. How do I get the main form to show up? I have tried placing this statement in Program Project1 code: Application,CreateForm(TForm1, Form1); But that does not work; It creates a small, blank Form1 even though I changed the name of my primary form to “Form1". I also tried using the same statement in the begin section of the program BetaPDFAnalysisProjectJuly282020; I also tried placing that statement there with the old name of the form, fFormMAINBetaPDFAnalysisJuly282020, before I changed it to Form1.  I am really lost. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Carmichael John ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trev · 2020-07-29 01:08 You should not need to manually add any Application.CreateForm() lines at all to the project source file as Lazarus takes care of doing this by default. Try this: start a new project - Project > New project; choose application; compile and run it. This should simply comprise a blank form and running it should cause the blank form to appear. Does that work as expected? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- process_1 · 2020-07-29 01:36 You meant you have created new component? Better to add small source example with minimum code and show what you have to accomplish. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Handoko · 2020-07-29 01:45 Quote from: process_1 on July 29, 2020, 03:36:09 amBetter to add small source example with minimum code and show what you have to accomplish. +1 @CarmichaelJohn Don't be shy to show us your code. The more people inspect it, the better its quality will be. If you're not willing to publicize the source code, you can write a demo that showing the issue. To do it: Create a new folder, copy and paste all the necessary files except: the binary (exe file), *.bak, lib and backup folders. Compress the folder and send the zip here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- process_1 · 2020-07-29 02:04 I have never had a need to made any custom component if that is the case, but creating a form dynamically for a component require some internal code in the component itself and the process can be found in any Lazarus component. With main form app, I would leave automatical process of creating, showing and destroying the main form, while other forms can be created dynamically by creating and freeing it in the code. All depends on what you actually need to accomplish. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CarmichaelJohn · 2020-07-30 23:05 To trev, process_1, and Handoko, Thank you all very much.  I decided to rebuild my program and start over. That worked and it is running.  I do not know what was different in the rebuild from the original. Incidentally, I was Not attempting to build a new component; the only components I was using was TMainMenu, TLabel, TEdit, and TAGraph.  Once again, Thank you, John
