Tabs lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SymbolicFrank · 2016-11-23 12:18 How can I get an indent of 2 spaces when I press TAB on an empty line? Or just an indent of 2 spaces? With 1.6.2? I fiddled with all settings I could find, but when I press TAB, it either indents 8 char positions, or jumps to the column where the previous line ends. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wp · 2016-11-23 12:28 Right-click on the code editor, "Options". In the tree select, "Editor" > "General" > "Misc" > "Tab and Indent". Set the "Tab widths" to 2. Turn "Smart tabs" off, it would override your tab width dynamically with the current identation of the previous line (I like this feature). Important: Absolutely make sure to have "Tabs to spaces" checked. Otherwise you would insert tab characters into your source text, this would make your code look differently if the tab width of the current machine is different. You will definitely not make friends here if you post such code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SymbolicFrank · 2016-11-23 21:51 in Editor > General, there is both "Misc" and "Tab and Indent". I did everything else, but it doesn't work. I'm a long-time user, and I got it working in all previous versions by just changing settings randomly until it started to work, and never changing it again. So, if you would ask me what I did, I have no idea. It's not all that understandable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2016-11-23 22:39 I dont think it is related, but go to codetools and disable "smart indent" (this should only affect indent, after pressing enter/return key) There is also "trim spaces" (misc(, but again it should not prevent the indent. (as long as the caret stays on the line.) / And it wouldnt get you 8 spaces. You can temporarily "show special chars" (misc) if you need to see, if spaces are there (or if a tab got inserted).
