This happens when you select non-monospaced (proportional) font.
Simply change font. Good choice is some Courier, Cousine, Liberation
Mono, DejaVu Sans Mono, Monospace, SourceCode Pro and others (you can
list and download monospaced fonts from FontSquirrel).

Well something changed.

What font do you use? Did maybe an OS update make changes to it
(add/change glyphs // installed eastern fonts // ...)

Did you make changes in the IDE settings? Change Lazarus Version ?
...?

What is the value for "Extra CHAR Spacing" (in the options, same page
as for setting the font)?
(Should be zero)
