[SOLVED?] Expand selection to word (with multi caret/syncron-edit) lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 05:56 Hi everyone, Anyone knows if the Lazarus editor have a keyboard shortcut to expand the selection to the next word? In Sublime Text one can press [ctrl]+D to that end. Thanks in advance. Rafael .... There is no shortcut as far as I know: http://wiki.freepascal.org/New_IDE_features_since#Syncron-Edit ---------------------------------------------------------------------- molly · 2016-04-22 07:04 You mean like ctrl-shift-cursor (left/right) ? See also lazarus menu: tools/options then on the ide-options dialog: editor/keymappings. On the right is a list on which there is listed: Text Selection commands. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 07:48 QuoteYou mean like ctrl-shift-cursor (left/right) ? The same key combination is listed in there: select word left, select word right (e.g. contrl-shift-cursor-left, control-shift-cursor- right). If you don't like that key combination then ... well... go nuts and stuff it under f1 or something that suits your needs better  If not listed, then i have to ask whch lazarus version and what platform ? edit: ah, i think i see where the confusion is coming from. see also yourdictionary. As they move the cursor i always named them cursor keys, perhaps better known to you as arrow keys. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 08:20 Ok, cursor is the arrow-keys, sorry about that. Then the answer is no! Seems that the Lazarus editor have the multiselection feature, but does not have a shortcut or anything to Expand the selection to the next occurrence of the word. The editor do wrap around and highlight stuff, but I want to select them! I am using 1.6.0 ... Reading some stuff right now... -> http://wiki.freepascal.org/New_IDE_features_since ---------------------------------------------------------------------- molly · 2016-04-22 08:29 That option has been there as long as i can remember. Given that i am on Windows, and that this key combination (and its effect) is what you had in mind. See attachment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 08:49 No, no, no, no. The name in the Lazarus scope is "multi caret". What I want is to expand the selection of the current word to similar words (in a "multi caret" fashion). The result is a "caret" at the end of each word). The following screenshot does not show the vertical caret at the end of each word, please, imagine them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 09:02 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Finally, I think I have found. Lot of steps: http://wiki.freepascal.org/New_IDE_features_since#Syncron-Edit 1 - Select the stuff 2 - Press Tab to select which word is the target 3 - Place the "vertical caret" 4 - Type stuff --- Seriously, Lazarus should review this functionality. Too much clicks/steps right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- molly · 2016-04-22 09:16 aaah ok. synchro edit is what you was looking for :-) You can also use multiple carets (but you would have to create them manually one by one then), using ctrl-shift-insert to add and ctrl- shift-delete to remove a caret. It is also listed under multi-caret commands in ide options. small correction (before anyone screws up his/her sources) 1 - Select the stuff 2 - Press ctrl-j (or) click on the icon on the left 3 - Press Tab to select which word is the target 4 - Place the "vertical caret" 5 - Type stuff And you can exit this mode with pressing escape key or pressing the icon on the left again. Well, if that works for you as similar as for your Sublime Text, then i guess you have solved it yourself :-) Sorry for the mix-up. i simply mis-interpreted your first post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cpicanco · 2016-04-22 09:30 The syncron-edit is kind of over-engineering FWIW. I just want to expand the selection of a word to the next similar word just like in Sublime Text
