Find and acive window under Linux lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krzynio · 2015-01-14 21:41 Hi! I use Lazarus trunk under Linux Debian with XFCE. When I press Ctrl+F on any word the Find window opens with this word in edit control. Then by simply clicking Find button or pressing Enter key I can find the word. But after first instance is found the source window looses focus. The focus is moved to main Lazarus window and to find next occurrence I have to click somewhere in source editor first to activate source editor then I can press Ctlr+L to find another instance. Under Windows it works fine. Focus is kept  in source editor. Is it a configuration problem or Linux bug? Regards, Krzysztof ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2015-01-14 21:51 sounds like a bug / there is no config for what you described ---------------------------------------------------------------------- munair · 2015-04-08 18:37 This is a shortcoming in the XFCE window manager. What XFCE version do you have? I have XFCE 4.8 (distributed by Debian) on Debian 7.8. I have similar problems with windows losing their focus. For instance, if I have a main window and open a modal dialog which then pops up a message box, the focus goes back to the main form after I close the message box rather then to the modal dialog. This is definitely XFCE behaviour. Usually after pressing Ctrl+F, I do continuous search with F3, a leftover from the DOS era but still being used today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zeljko · 2015-04-09 07:19 XFCE window manager have pretty strange behaviour with modal windows. That's main reason why I don't use it at all. Try to use some other window manager with xfce. eg. openbox and it will be ok.
