Refactoring rename identier issue lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Never · 2014-10-15 23:46 first case : select an identifier right click and from menu select refactoring/ rename identifier now click cancel the caret moved up to find the identifier declaration place !!! second case select an identifier right click and from menu select refactoring/ rename identifier  click rename identifier after the job done the caret is again at  identifier's declaration place !!! IMHO it should remember the original place and reposition itself there ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2014-10-16 08:59 If you can improve the IDE, it would be better to submit a patch on the bugtracker rather than to air it here which may get some niggle off your chest, but has little or no positive effect on Lazarus development. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Never · 2014-10-16 09:52 Sorry for that thought that was required to do so got it all wrong i guess will not happen again ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-10-16 10:45 IMHO nothing wrong with voicing an idea. Many ideas that were posted here have picked up in the past. True, many more did not.... But still. I don't know if the current behaviour had any reasons. But some may find it useful. However, did you notice, that "Rename I." does add a paint in the jump history? So you can just jump back to where you came from. (ctrl-h, or any key you assign, 4th mouse button, if you have) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Never · 2014-10-16 12:03 @Martin_fr i'm aware of this and other ways to do the job thank you my intetion was to be useful @howardpc point it well i think i do not see a reason to discuss it further i got wrong the purpose of the forum
