Bug on Editor's Horizontal  Scrolling??

well.... do this
open any file you want with editor
ensure you are at the beginning of a line -->cursor left columns=0
move your mouse over the right arrow of the editor's horizontal
scrollbar press one time on the arrow
you notice your screen is moving to the left so you are one letter
forward ....columns=1
now move your mouse over the [ page ] of the horizontal  scrollbar
press and hold your left mouse do not move it hold it there
you notice the page is going to the start (columns=0) [ it should stay
where it was and start counting from there ]
now free the mouse and the page is going to previous position
(columns=1)
this behavior leads to confusion if you try to scroll with the [ page
] of the horizontal  scrollbar
the screen is flickering left to right until you release the mouse and
you have no clue where you are on the screen

Can you attach your editoroptions.xml please?

I can not reproduce with my settings.

Also which OS? Lazarus 1.2.4 or trunk (1.3) ?

Does it happen with the default project? "unit1.pas" (empty form)?


"page" refers to the free space on the scrollbar, between the slider,
and the button?

by [ page ] meant the [ slider ] sorry for this .....had other things
in my mind
but the behavior remains the same

It happens with any file

Restarted the machine
created a blank project
and the editor works as expected 
oppened old projects and works as expected also.
!!!!
Something to mention when the above strange behavior is happening
 the page marked as selected at the side clicked for last time
ex.
[<]a                 b[#####]c      d         e[>]
Button   Page    Slider         Page     Button
Left      Left                      Right     Right

if the last click was on d then the area from c to e was marked
selected constantly

The latter is a paint issue. But yet may be related.

SynEdit sets the position of the scrollbar, if something changes, even
if that change was the scrollbar itself (in which case it is redundant
to do so).

But without being reproducible, there is little that can be done.

If it happens again, please try to watch the slider, when clicking the
"button right". Does the slider move?

the Hscrollbar is functioning but does it wrong

forward ....columns=1on arrows moves 1place/space/char and on mouse
down on slider move's at the start every time
Next time i will check the VScrollbar also
