Concerning Auto-Complete and Margin lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eax · 2014-01-05 22:50 Hello, I'm just beginning programming with Lazarus, Pascal in general. I've been using the shortcut keys to call the code completion window, but is it possible to have it instantly called as soon as I begin typing without the shortcut key? Another question I have is regarding the right margin line in the editor. Is it possible to move the line more to the right? Thanks, cheers! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2014-01-05 23:01 Quote from: eax on January 05, 2014, 11:50:24 pm but is it possible to have it instantly called as soon as I begin typing without the shortcut key? Tools > Options > Editor > Display ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eax · 2014-01-05 23:18 Typing the 'dot' character doesn't invoke anything for me. Fixed the right margin though, thanks for that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2014-01-05 23:23 After an identifier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eax · 2014-01-05 23:41 My original question was if it was possible to invoke the Auto Complete box starting with any character, not just after an identifier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2014-01-06 00:07 Well, if you type a text on a text editor, as soon as your text is significant to the editor, some options of completion will appear. The same happens with Lazarus. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2014-01-06 00:24 No, the auto-complete does not (and there is no option) pop up automatically in the middle of a word. I know there are some IDE that do that. But Lazarus does not currently. Auto complete: - can be triggered at any time by ctrl-space - can automatically open, after a (single) dot. It does so, when you pause typing after the dot. The time that the IDE waits, before openig the completion in this case, can be configured. Thats all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2014-01-06 03:56 Yes, no search for identifiers is made before the completion box is opened. Maybe you can make a feature request on BugTracker.
