[Closed]Change tab and enter behavior. lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-17 11:05 There is something wrong with those keys mainly when I have some text select the tab will intent the line instead of replacing the selected text with a tab char and the enter key will jump to the end of the selected block and add a new line instead of again replacing the selected text with a new line. Is there some setting I can check to force the editor to handle the tab and enter keys as any other key? TIA. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- typo · 2013-12-17 11:16 AFAIK the standard behaviour of the editor does exactly that. Maybe you have changed something on Tools > Options. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- howardpc · 2013-12-17 11:40 In the IDE options dialog, Editor, General page make sure that the "Tab indents blocks" checkbox is unchecked. I don't know what causes the odd behaviour with Enter, but perhaps you have persistent blocks set without "overwrite block" ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-17 12:03 Nope nothing, In the mean time I found that removing the return from from the group, solves my enter problem. The tab on the other hand keeps on intending the line where the selection is. Tab Intents blocks did the trick for the tab character thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin_fr · 2013-12-17 12:59 I can not reproduce the "enter" behaviour. Assuming that (Options/Editor/General): - "overwrite block" is ON - "persistent block" is OFF Please also check the codetool settings for (smart) indent. If it persists, please attach your editoroptions.xml and environmentoptions.xml Is the behaviour dependent on any of those? - text-selection at end/begin of line? - selection forward/backward (cursor at begin/end of selection) - single/multi line selection ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-17 13:47 from the time I posted the problem the only change from the attached screenshot is that I now have the Tab Indents blocks unchecked. Please keep in mind that I am steel using 1.0.10 and I haven't tested the behavior on newer versions of the IDE ee 1.0.14 or 1.2 (which I must install at some point too). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-17 15:58 I just changed the keyboard scheme from default to classic and back to default, the return that I had previously cleared is again set but I can not reproduce the behavior I was experiencing before I cleared it. I am not sure what happened really. In any case this is considered closed thank you every one for your input.
