How to remove a package from the IDE and replace it with a newer version? lazarus / 9-Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bill0287 · 2013-12-12 00:06 I installed rxlib using this version:    lazarus-ccr-svn-2857-components-rx-trunk I noticed that I could get (what I think) is a newer version:    lazarus-ccr-svn-2861-components-rx-trunk When I try to add the package from the 2861 folder the compiler complains about their being two paths with the same units. How to I cleanly remove the 2857 version and remove any mention of it from the paths so I can try to install the 2861 version? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bambamns · 2013-12-12 01:38 Package->Install/Unistall Packages - use this to remove packageTools->Build Lazarus with Profile - use this to recompile LazarusPackage->Open Package file - use this to install package ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bill0287 · 2013-12-12 03:07 Oddly enough, I tried this and moved the package from the "Install" window to the "Do not Install Window" and they were both in the Do Not Install Window with red "x" on them, and they both read: "current state: installed"; and the components were all still in the component bar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-12 03:41 you need to recompile the IDE it does not support dynamic package loading. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bill0287 · 2013-12-12 03:59 I thought that's what step 2 above was for? I did that and the components were still installed. Is compiling the IDE something different? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taazz · 2013-12-12 05:25 Step 2 is what I'm talking about, there is no way you removed the package rebuild the IDE and the components are  still on the palette either the build process failed and you didn't see it or it never started.
